I get it regarding the shipping prices. For what it's worth, all shipping for backers is actually slightly discounted, but shipping is what it is...
In short, yes: it is the same version.
The main difference is that the card formats are different in the boxed edition (print-and-play on the left; boxed edition on the right, below).
There are no gameplay differences, and any rules updates that we do make for the boxed edition will eventually be included in the print-and-play edition.
