I didn't play Tropicali (yet), but I've played through the whole content that there is in this game right now.
And while I wouldn't describe it as emotionally "devastating", this game sure deals with a lot of emotional trauma on a regular basis. Lots of heavy topics, tears of joy and sorrow. All wrapped in one of the most unique settings I've seen in visual novels.
