I also dislike the topic but probably for a different reason than you. I used to be a part of those communities but since I am Asian, I unfortunately met many racial fetishists/weebs who objectified me. I distanced myself from all of my former fandoms and gradually lost interest in the media as well. So I lose my immersion when my character talks to the online friend. It's not something I relate to. But since I still love the game, I just imagine the conversation is about something else. Dialogue that feels OOC for you is just unavoidable in visual novels, so I often imagine things differently in the games I play.
