This is the nature of traditional Roguelikes; they're designed to be played in a single run, with a single life, which increases the overall stakes. High scores and Achievements are saved.

Agreed that it should be played in one go BUT a lot of people just don’t have an hour or so to dedicate to a single run in one shot.
Would like just a save so I can turn it off and pick it back up later. Even if it’s just like a save that auto deletes when you pick it back up! Kinda like what was done on the Evercade version. 
I love the game but I hesitate to actually play it because I have to plan for if I have time to actually play the whole thing.
