Alright, finally got time to play through the entire thing, pretty promising so far! You're probably aware of a lot of this, but I'll write it down anyway:
- I think the thing I'm most missing right now is feedback during combat. Especially since the first enemy you encounter are these tiny lil bombs, I had absolutely no idea if my attacks were even hitting for a while.
- After getting used to not getting feedback, I actually found combat to feel pretty fine. I hope there will be more variation to it later on, but for now it seems fine. The chompy guy seems a lot tougher than the other enemies so far, shooty guy was super easy to avoid by just moving out of their range, which I thought was a bit of a shame since the attack pattern is pretty cool.
- One thing I find very unforgiving right now is the lack of health drops, so I hope those just aren't implemented yet :)
- Player controller feels good so far, maybe a little slow? Not too bad though.
- Level design is pretty good, I especially liked the clearly impossible puzzle that was actually clearly impossible and became solvable after getting the hookshot, nice foreshadowing. The key in the penultimate room feels a little weird, especially since I had to approach it from an angle since startinga twirl along the sloped ground would snap me to the ground. And since I opened the boss room first, I didn't read the twirl-jump tutorial in the other room, so I wasn't even sure if what I was doing was intended. Might also be nice to add a shortcut in that room so you can more easily go between levels?
Apart from these nitpicks (and despite never having finished a 3D Zelda game before), I quite enjoyed it, though! Looking forward to where this goes :)
(EDIT: Also just realized I may have still played an old version, oops. Might check out the new one later)
