I think being able to throw away bad fish would *slightly* defeat the purpose of the bad fish (you could still lose the opportunity to catch good fish while throwing away the bad ones) but from my playthrough you can make the shark eat the bad fishes without losing your line (though it's not really reliable and relies heavily on the RNG). Thanks for the feedback! Grabbing bad fish by accident and being forced to put them in the bucket does feel a little unfair!

You nailed it, it's exactly the being forced to put bad fish in the bucket that feels bad.
I've made a mistake in input, but I'd like the game to allow me to correct it with decision making.
The shark eating the line feels fairer, because punishment is instant, and I clearly can't revert it.
