I am curious about the extent Canata’s story is going to go. How much is it going to branch out? Will the MC have a choice to side with the Regis in some way or will we be streamlined to side with the Resistenza? (Yes, I know genocide is bad. I like the Resistenza. I’m just wondering lol)

No, no “evil” routes. The biggest difference is whether MC’s heart is merciful or vengeful—it’s the difference between wanting to reform the empire or burn it all to the ground.
There will be no bad endings because, quite frankly, I don’t want to write them, lol. I know this may be considered a strike against Cantata in the world of IFs, but I’m nothing if not consistent. 🥴 You will always get hope, healing and happy endings in a Fir & Fireweed story!
