Ok, so I figured out the issue- the Slim start character neither has the Self-Esteem or Gluttony to be eligible for either option in the Normal Meal version. There needs to be something to account for this extremely easy-to-reproduce gamestate.
Yeah, this was a bug I found in my testing and it has been fixed in new versions of the game. Version 0.06.5 will be coming out here on itch in about a week or two. It fixes a ton of bugs and adds quite a bit of content. Thank you for reporting that though, and for leaving such a detailed description and diagnoses of the issue.
