You win this jam, my friend.

Out of the 24 other entries I’ve played properly, this one really stands out. I’m genuinely glad I came across it.

I’ll be honest at first I didn’t like it, mostly because I didn’t understand it. I couldn’t even break 50 points. I thought it might just be a gimmick just like the top high scores is hardcoded . But once I slowed down and actually learned the mechanics, after a few real head-scratchers, it finally clicked… and I started getting pretty good.

I realised it’s not about just having two matching pieces on the board, but about managing multiples, delaying level-ups, and using positioning. Treating the player as a blocker between pieces is such a smart idea. It genuinely feels like a mix of chess and solving one side of a Rubik’s Cube.

The sound design is also fantastic, the unique sounds for each monster add so much character. I also love the small visual detail of the player physically looking stronger as they level up.

The way health, damage, and level all interact works incredibly well. For beginners, even reaching the 256 boss feels like a huge achievement — it’s a real gatekeeper. Once you break past it, the game opens up and you can really start racking up points. And the strategy of trading HP for positioning? Absolute gold.

I’ll definitely be coming back to this and aiming to put my name on the leaderboard. Please keep working on this project — I’ll be your first customer, dude.
