Although the game's interpretation of the theme is the furthest stretch I've seen, I cannot deny its addictive puzzle solving, par system, and its surprising ways of tripping the player in how to mix up colors.
Only thing that irked me is that the color brown often looked too similar to some mixtures of red and yellow, and the sandy background doesn't help with this distinction.

The theme interpretationâI completely understand how it appears like a stretch. And yet, the truth is that the game was totally inspired by the theme. Hereâs how. The theme is suggested by a stylized fragment of a famous painting, which made me think of paint, colors, and palettes. It also implies âconnectionâ. So, how do you make paints and colors âconnectâ? By blending them, of course! Now, two pointer fingers reaching toward a point of contact led me to the name of the game and the concept of âcheckpointsâ. The rest came together naturally.
If it still sounds like a stretch, itâs good to remember that, luckily, not all brains work the same. I often get law ratings for theme interpretation, but to me, being creative is more important than being predictableâthatâs just more fun.
