Whenever I import the FBX assets into UE 5.7, they’re always completely black. Unreal always has an error about no or incorrect “smoothing groups.” Any ideas? I really want to use these assets. I can see the GLBs but the collisions are all out of whack and I can’t go through the tunnels. So, I want to use the FBX files because of that. Thanks!

Hi! Please try this:

[FBX Import Settings (Static Mesh)]

//In the import dialog

1. Normal Import Method

• Import Normals and Tangents (preferred if authored correctly)

OR

• Compute Normals (UE recalculates smoothing)


2. Advanced -> Normal Generation Method

• MikkTSpace (default, correct)

• Reimport after changing settings.
