Not quite - clearly, this project is way shorter as experiences go due to absence of the immensely challenging puzzles the Myst titles had which locked off much of the setting until they could be solved. But with the reliance on creative art direction, a sense of atmosphere and mystery, and a heavy exploration element all is very similar.

And you know what? I love how distinct this release looks. It reminds me not only of its stated influences but it feels a bit like 90s vaporwave almost. Which has much to do with the color palettes used and the use of stylized geometric designs that are less interested in photorealism and more just looking cool and imaginative.

BTW, Myst and Riven definitely were major influences on me as well - they made me push hard into 3d art as I realized what was becoming possible with that - and both have awesomely detailed UE5 VR supporting remakes on Steam now.

I have several game dev projects quietly moving forward that are drawing inspiration from that sort of game except one in particular, Miniature Multiverse, is 75% done using realistically detailed O scale  miniatures in the environment art. Sort of a Myst 3, Myst 4 UI used there, lots of panoramas captured inside sprawling models built in my garage. And the visible garage roof around each landscape swapped out, replaced with sky of course. All of it digitally extended, sometimes with fluid simulated oceans faintly reflecting a 3d scan of the model. Not done yet and still even now likely a year off. For now mostly it's just asset packs for game devs released, not actual released games, but that will begin to change significantly by this summer. I am excited about that but still a fair amount left to do to make it happen.
