Yo! Glad you enjoyed the game and thanks a bunch for the feedback! I had started on a remake of the game that solves some of the things you mentioned (and I don't even know why the cakes don't work ToT) and whenever I finish said remake, I hope you'll check it out
few things i will mention though:
- I believe the mouse cursor does have a way to make it less fancy, though there is not technically a way to turn it "off
- The diagonal movement being faster is actually an intentional choice, I just though it was kinda fun, and it made a decent way to avoid enemies that were your same speed (like the cake slices when they work)
- you can also hold space to shoot :]
- Speed is going to be based on your weapon in the remake (or Rebake as I'm calling it), so you'll be faster / slower depending on what you're using. Also, guns have much more feedback now :]
