Lots of good stuff, but as someone who loves design themselves, Camera upgrade ideas!
First of all, the idea of a camera flash mechanic seems very appealing, and I would love to see how that becomes an interactive game mechanic! (spooking fauna, alerting predators of your presence, etc)
As for my upgrade idea, perhaps a "tazer" flash that momentarily stops characters from moving. Could be useful as a defensive tool against predators.
And if that idea seems too... believable. Howabout a camera upgrade that uses strange magic to swap your position with the photo target after taking the picture?
Some of these basic ideas I figure you have probably thought of, but I'll just rapid fire some here: more photo storage, faster loading, faster focus, longer zoom distance, limited satellite photo uploads, ai assistant that tells you about the subject in focus (like a pokedex from the show), placeable camera tripod with remote activation, camera drone, selfie stick, realtime photo grading calculator (doesn't have to be an exact grade, but a hint at how good your photo is before you take it), bullet time (slow-mo) while taking photos, a ridiculously powerful flash that actually launches you backwards, nightvision, thermal heatvision, burst photo mode, and a tool that tells you the sex of a target even if you can't see them from the front.
Feel free to take any of these ideas or just use them for inspiration.
