i feel like i'm stupid, but i just spent half an hour walking about the first town not finding the planks, would you be okay with giving a more precise hint on their location?

After accepting the quest from the mysterious stranger, start with the goblin close to the "hotel". The planks come much later.
I'm very sorry for sending you to the first town too early. I remembered the order of steps wrong myself!!
