Firstly, apologies for taking so long to respond. Secondly, thanks a billion for buying the demo, I hope it lives up to expectations!

In regards to the loading issues, is your pico8 updated to the latest version? Theres a few functions Umbra uses that dont work with older versions of pico8.

If you're updated, how are you loading the carts into pico8?

Again, thank you for buying the demo, lmk if you have any other issues.

Let me look into updating pico-8 on my handheld and get back to you. at first, I was just placing all of the p8 files into a folder under my "roms/pico-8/" directory

Okay, so I'm running Pico-8_0.2.6b.

Is there a specific directory that I should place the .p8 files in? Also, my RG CubeXX is running Knulli OS if that helps.

No prob! And Oh shoot, yeah I should specify you need to place them in the carts directory and load them through splore. They should appear in the section with the folder icon when you open it, you may need to refresh though. Lmk if you run into any more issues! Sorry for the inconvenience!

So when I used splore, and went to the carts directory, and pressed on "Umbra", I got "Could not load" u_u,

OH! I misread your pico8 version, you need pico8 0.2.7 at least to run the game. hopefully that's all the issue is. lmk if that help!

looks like I'll need to update my Knulli OS to get the latest Pico-8 on it. The Rabbit Holes we run into for the love of Pico-8! ^_^

So.... it seems that trying to update pico-8 to a handheld was a fool's errand. after attempting to update pico-8 from 0.2.6b to 0.2.7 caused pico-8 to no longer work at all. and updating to Gladiator II was no good either. Pico-8 just does not want to run on Knulli. luckily, I have a 35xxSP that runs MUOS (Pixie) and I was able to easily update Pico-8 to 0.2.7. and... I can now run the demo. Also, with the windows version, I'm also able to run it on my PC and Android handhelds running Gamehub lite. so it's all good. thank you for walking this extra mile with me. I look forward to what you have for us in the future...

quick (silly) update. I was able to get pico-8 upgraded on my CubeXX running Knulli (Gladiator II) after all. I was dumb, I forgot that Knulli has an awesome feature of just copying the raspberry pi .zip file for pico-8 and do a system install of it. and then "Robert's your mother's brother", it all works. Umbra is running on it. I hope that this hopes some other poor soul in the future!

This afternoon, I finished the demo. it was very good. Props to you for putting so much 2D action mechanics and RPG-like leveling into a Pico-8 game! I'm looking forward to the next entry!
