This tool is cool but it doesn't really translate well into RPG Maker MZ. The sprites are either too big or too small and trying to size them to be inbetween makes them look weird.

That is sad to hear that you think so! :( But it might be an usage issue, below I will leave a few suggestions as well as two examples of usage:

  • Half size will give you half pixels, wich will ruin pretty much everything. I strongly recommend resizing by integers and using the 1x version as a base;

  • The tool exports two versions: a 1x version and a 2x version. Now, the choice depends on the coherence you are looking for. If you are going 1x, then the tileset also need the 1:1 pixel aspect ratio. Also, for the 1x version, you might prefer items on the tileset to be way smaller than the default RTP items. If you go with the 2x, the tileset also needs the 2:2 pixel aspect ratio - that is why I also work on tilesets for the series, that is such so the user have tilesets that matches the aesthetic;

  • If you do not shy away from custom scripts, strongly consider writting up some code to use the 6f version of the sprites with continous loop instead of back and forth. The animation looks so much better with 6 frames;

See two examples below: One using RTP tilesets and another one with my tilesets from the Tiny RPG Series:

How do you like these? :) Keep in mind that my series do not use the same design guidelines as the default RMK RTP, instead I go for my own style - which can surely fit lots of tilesets that you find online, but might not be adequate to RTP tilesets and other assets if you are looking to keep the coherence.
