the "give up" option with the skull is the endless-mode
So glad I saved 5 minutes prior. Please add a popup or 2 warning people. I nearly lost almost 3 hours of progress. The autosave saves after the scenes start so it's impossible to rollback unless you saved prior. I had no idea that was endless.
