I would say maybe a mix?
Have different levels surrounding Jennifer and her husband and maybe some of her friends become different levels where you can do things on shopping trips, lunches, maybe Ethan could have a job as a bus boy where he runs into a friend of Jennifer who's heard of his "talents" while shes already on a date with her own husband.
