Holy cow, I'm still so attached to the old sprites (and tbh Jaylene is gonna take some getting used to) but Lien's new design genuinely surprised me in how different her vibe is without changing too much of her design and still communicating everything the original does.
Most of all, the second Bae's sprite appeared in the game I thought to myself "hey, I feel like she looks better than before" and after taking a look at her old sprite all I can say is... holy glow up. I remembered that I'd sort of felt like Bae had a sort of janky design but I could never quite put my finger on what was exactly wrong with it. From what I could tell, the new design improves so much while helping her have more of a memorable and distinct look.
And now that I'm talking about distinct looks, not everyone has a side part anymore! Huzzah for diversity of hairstyles!
I'm so excited to get an excuse to have my near-annual replaying of Monster Sweethearts, but I'm more excited that you're revisiting this project! I really cannot contain my excitement with all the new content you've talked about.
Edit: I cannot stop laughing every time Blake is on screen. The fucking fingers in her pockets is so on-the-nose that it cracks me up whenever I have to read text over her sprite
Edit 2: Blake's "Don't worry, I only hate gay people slightly" is infinitely funnier now
