I love this to bits!
I’ve done something similar where I have a laptop that uses labwc as its window manager.
- it opens my writing application fullscreen on sign-in
- It has no menu bars, status bars or app launcher
- you can open a context menu with a keyboard shortcut/right click to get to the file manager, or admin programs
- a keyboard shortcut does a little toast pop-up with system status like WiFi/battery percentage.
I think that the last bit of hiding the system status behind a toast notification is really practical because I want the application to be full screen, but having a battery reference is useful lol.
