I'm glad you appreciate my idea! I would love to see this implemented down the line because something like this would improve the program's usability and versatility.
As for the interface, FWIW I don't like the blue dot I put in my mockup, I think it can be done without a ton of graphical cues. I'd love to see what you come up with!
