You must reach the last room in the 1st temple, unlock the mouse transformation (by interacting with the big statue/altar) and read the writing on the wall (this should give you a new quest as well). If you have done all that, when you exit to the world map, you should get a warning that you can write things down in your uncle's study (2nd floor in your house in Tarkas). Doing that advances the chapter, so make sure you finished everything you wanted to do first.
