I meant, how do you make the music and the SFX sound like a retro game or an old arcade (8-16 bits)? Do you use some special settings in a synthesizer, or a specific instrument in the software you use to make the music and sounds...?

Ah, the music was sequenced on Furnace Tracker, you can find their website or Github page easily. In Furnace you can select which soundchip you want to use. very straightfoward. And if you want you can even export the music for the real hardware, so basically Lunny's soundtrack can run on a real gameboy.
