Believe it is more or less confirmed that this will not be happening now due to the amount of effort involved.
No worries, hope to be wrong and things can always change. Though believe the developer is currently being pushed more to appeasing new content as opposed to additional platform support and system environment support.
Maybe when the Steam version is released, things like this might be revisited though.
