I was immediately drawn in by them thumbnail because the colors were pretty much straight up monokai (one of my all time favourite color themes). Was that intentional choice or just a coicidence?
So though visually simplistic, it looks great with pleasant colors and fun squeezing movement animation. Sounds pretty good too though the shoot/kill/exp sound effects do get a bit annoyingly repetitive and muddled when there is loads of them happening all the time.
It starts off being so easy that you can just idle around. The shot cooldown reduction seemed like the only upgrade worth it really as projectile speed would do nothing as enemies aren't dodging or you don't have to aim at all. Maybe few points in damage could be useful but the cooldown seems to serve the same purpose too. I dunno if it increases exponentially or what but at some threshold it seemed to really dramatically bump up and turned into a literal machine gun. From that point onwards, I was again able to just idle in the center.
Managed to capture also in that video a huge lag spike that seems to happen the worse the longer you spend on the upgrade pick screen. Is it like still spawning bullets in the background and then fires them off all the second you do your pick or something?
This was the only time I lost any life since and managed to go for dozens of levels more. The difficulty ramping up seemed to stop and I guess it could go on forever.
The main culprit for turning this game to too easy is the infinite grab range for exp pellets. That's why it's a somewhat rare one time pickup in Vampire Survivors and Megabonk. And of course the lack of different upgrade options was hurting the replayability too.
Anyways, good job! 👍
