You’re doing perfectly fine btw ;). I intentionally designed the “taming” not as taming in the classical way to fit a druidic vibe. You instead get a “memory” of the animal you “calmed/cleansed” and not defeated.
When you reach the first Ritual tree you can set bond with those memories to have them aid you in combat via the radial menu on Q. A little more guidance might not be wrong i think… but kinda wanted the exploration and not “in your face” with mechanics.
I am ready with version 2.0 in half an hour and redesigned all the Voiceacting (normalized volume) as well as added combat sounds and fixed a couple of bugs, if you wanne give it another go :)
