FYI, the Linux download you've got here isn't a ZIP archive...it's a tar archive.  You should rename the file to:

midnightcreak_linux.tar

...to reduce confusion.  Alternatively, since it's just the one file in there anyway, you could instead just gzip the executable itself and distribute that as:

midnightcreak_linux.x86_64.gz

...and skip the middleman.  :)  As far as the game itself, it ran perfectly fine (I just finished playing through it)...it's just the name of the file that needs updating.

As for the actual game...good job!  I don't normally go in for this kind of game but this was tense enough to keep me on my toes but not so much that it felt psychologically exhausting to play.

omg thank you so much for your feedback! you actually pointed out a big flaw of my approach to creating archives. the button that i made to make this process easier made tar archives and named them .zip for god know how long. so thank you for that!

im so glad you found the game to have just the right amount of tension. i didn't want to make it too stressful, just spooky and atmospheric ^^

it also makes me very happy to know that it ran pretty good. i actually put a bunch of care into making my games optimized and consistent in terms of performance. one thing im curious to know is whether you had any stutters right as you started playing. im currently looking into ways of resolving shader compilation lag spikes

No worries...thanks for making the game!  Yeah, as far as the tension level...it's all personal preference 'cause some people may be disappointed that it's not downright claustrophobic and oppressive like The Eight Pages.  :)  Not me, though!

I don't remember any stuttering, but I'm pretty patient so if it was only a little I probably ignored it even if it did happen.  I can run some tests if you wanna tell me how to check for what you're looking for; be advised that I'm running the game on a system with an integrated Intel GPU (no fancy AMD/Nvidia hardware).  These post replies may not be the best way for a lot of back and forth; feel free to reach out on Discord (same username) if you like.
