If you're playing on a computer (Windows, Linux), it's usually enough to unzip the new version of the game to any folder and continue playing – your save will load from the Ren'Py repository, which is located in your system's home folder.
And if you were playing on Android... When you uninstalled the old version, Android deleted all your saves, so you'll either need to ask your friends for their saves or start over.
