I was captivated by the gorgeous front cover and had a great time with the incredibly simple, but brilliantly effective mechanics.

I was Corcaedos Viel (They/ She), a sketchy cleric trying to escape the tower with as much treasure as they could hold.

My game book was Area X The Southern Reach Trilogy by Jeff Vandermeer.

Cor's ascent was blocked by thorned "Vines DC7" she failed to wrestle and toon her first loss of HP. Searching around, they found a strange "Window DC5" near the ceiling and managed to squeeze through.

On the 3rd floor "Dirt DC5" covered everything and swirling dust bunnies coalesced into an elemental guardian. A swift blow from her mace sent them scattering.

The way to the 4th floor was thick with a choking "Miasma DC5", which initially proved too much for Cor, dropping them to 1 HP, but she listened to the "Voice DC6" of her patron on her mind and let it guide her to safety.

On the 5th floor the bitter "Ghost" of a fallen adventurer stalked, but Cor managed to stealthily find the dessicated corpse and the ornate blade that slew them, pocketing the treasure.

With the 6th floor ahead, a maniacal "Laugh DC10" echoed down the corridor, consuming Cor with its madness. She fell to screaming rabid mirth...
