I love the idea of the strategy behind this game. I am not really into this kind of game myself but I can appreciate the thought that has gone into making this. I am a big fan of the choice to make the units melons and their variety in appearance. I also enjoyed the perspective of the battleground. The upgrading mechanic is also fun.
I know it's for the theme of the jam but I did find the sudden change of my units and fields very confusing when I lost to the enemy. Having to relearn what I have on the battleground is not the most fun for me, but I do appreciate how it fits the theme. I think an improvement to this would be allowing the player to see the battleground of the enemy they are about to face. Not only do I think this would negate this problem but it would also add another layer to the stategising imo.
Good fun tactical gameplay overall, it was satisfying to watch the melons battle it out!
