🎮 Game Improvement Observations

These observations are offered to help you enhance the player experience.

Specific Feedback

  1. Torch Beam/Lighting
    • The torch beam appears too bleached out due to an excessive amount of white light emission. This significantly hinders visibility directly in front of the player.
    • Recommendation: Consider changing the light source to a finer, more directed beam to allow the player to see their immediate environment more clearly.
  2. Player Sway/Head bob
    • The unnecessary player camera sway can potentially induce motion sickness or nausea.
    • Recommendation: This feature should be completely removed or, at minimum, an option to disable it should be included in the game's menu.
  3. Player Movement Speed
    • The current player movement speed feels quite fast.
    • Recommendation: Please slightly reduce the base player movement speed.
  4. Environmental Detail/Backdrops
    • I noticed plain white spaces outside the building when looking through windows.
    • Recommendation: To enhance the environment and sense of immersion, place some backdrops or 3D elements outside to give the area a more complete feel.
  5. Opening Letter/Voice Over
    • In the starting room, the voice-over for the letter was in a foreign language while the on-screen text was in English. Additionally, the text font was difficult to read.
    • Recommendation: Consider adding an option for the player to press a key (e.g., 'E' or 'F') that brings up the letter's text as a clearer, easily readable overlay.

Initial Impression & Audio

I personally did not play much beyond the starting area, primarily due to the lighting issue with the torch. However, just before quitting, I did hear a creature's growl or howl that had subpar audio quality. I recommend introducing higher-quality audio effects for these key creature/event sounds.

Best of luck in your video game development journey!
