No.

There are multiple Forms  of tests and testers

In game development its not just The playable state that is important. As of The game right now, The shadow build in question, is not  playable . It was made to test New mechanics, physics, Graphics implementations, AI behavior, Map stability, and overall consistency of game content.(to check if all flags are being activated and such)

QA testers test The completed project fully to check if The entire project and vision of the Game is working as intended. But as Everybody knows VOTV aint complete yet... So this fallacy of "testers, test the Game by playing" is flat out wrong... Imagine if all testers did that during development of a game?

Imagine The waste of time waiting for all testers to play a game that it has content that needs to be activated by putting hundreds of hours into the game and still missing, for an example,  an event?

The game would never get out of development hell

In short... No, This isnt a version to play and enjoy. This version is literally a work In PROGRESS meant to show New ideas, mechanics and etc for The other guys in The team to "spark" creativity and create content.

I agree with The guy above me. These shadow builds should be private because of all The behavior of the community that isnt helping in any way The development of the Game.
Edit:  Addendum: You arent forced to play the shadow version. You can choose not to do so. And if the warnings werent enough for you dont forget that Actions have consequences. Be mindful of that

I am not trying to argue with you, nor did I say that this was meant to be played by the general audience. But you just said this "It was made to test New mechanics, physics, Graphics implementations, AI behavior, Map stability, and overall consistency of game content.(to check if all flags are being activated and such)". So... like okay, I believe you. But that's kinda what I was implying? Testers....test stuff...

But regardless, I am not knowledgeable in game dev, so I will dip out of this convo.

Yes.. Testers test stuff. Its implied in the name. What are they testing for? Thats the real question. Every assignment has an aim.
Also Testers dont make a 60 line text complaining about the bugs and features and broken stuff they find, in a General Discussion Forum of the game.
REAL TESTERS Document bugs, Unintended Features and anything unusual they find during their gameplay and in the end, they make a little addendum with their ideas and suggestions and send all that to the Dev. Thats what Testers Do.
BUt playing a TEST version of the game and expecting a finalized product experience its kinda unfair isnt it?
In game development when you have a PLAYABLE game it means its somewhat fun and engaging experience...
So, the shadow build? Unplayable.... Play at your own risk of getting a bad experience and if you want to help, Please play it report all the bugs you found, document them and put them in the forms DrNose set it up for THIS occasion in particular.(its Enforced by the dev thats why he released the Test version for the public)
Dont be a self entitled jackass like OP. Contribute, be kind and concise. Help the development of your beloved game..
Its like raising a child.. You wont beat its ass for every mistake they make unless you want to repeat the same mistakes some parents do with their offspring.

I... I'm sorry, man, but I am genuinely confused about how any of my comments or replies could be mistaken for being self-entitled or being a jackass. Nothing in this post coming from me has been me demanding anything of the devs, just being confused on this whole subject. And you helped correct me, so... I don't under the hostile third degree? But whatever man, like I said, I'm dipping from the convo, appreciate the insight but jeez.

Thats alright.  A Lot of people confuse ''Playing'' In the Ludic sense as to ''Test''
For some people, Testing and playing its fun... Its like a virtual glorified treasure hunt.(For me, playing and testing and finding bugs and broken things its fun for other people its not)
When you ''play'' a game, you expect it to work as intended with all the mechanics, game world and balancing to be nice and tidy.. But this isn't the case. In this case. playing this particular version of the game, would ruin your expectancy on the game. No wonder the Dev dully noted that its BROKEN,SHADOW,TEST in Uppercase... He probably knew what would happen.
There's a BIG difference between Playing a game and testing a game but for some people doing both is fun.
