An idea I was curious about:

Would it be possible to "temporarily remove" the nsfw content?  Allowing you to get the base game onto Steam, and hopefully get it to more people.  Then allow people to download a "mod", "patch", or "dlc" type of thing to reenable it.  Or have a code system (that could be used for other things like cheat codes) that when the code is entered allows access to the nsfw options? Like require 18+ for people to buy it still, but then have a link on the game's menu that takes people to a mod/patch to reenable it.

I had seen a few games that did this, so I was wondering if there was a way to go that path?

If it isn't that simple, what was the specific reason steam denied it?  And is it something we can just have removed (and depending on why it was, reenable them with a code input)?

Why? that would remove the main purpose of the game? also I believe they stated they don't want to put the game on steam.

They did mention that is why they are not working on it anymore at this time, Steam denied the game due to an unspecified reason. They are not willing to work on it without making "enough" (they said they are not making enough to continue development as of now)  money while doing so. So if they could figure out a way to make it available on steam and keep the nsfw part, why not?

What can they do? And how do we get to keep getting updates to this game?  That was my only idea I had, this game doesn't deserve to just get cancelled or put into indefinite limbo.  And it would be a good idea to they actually post the recent update in the actual dev updates instead of it getting buried in the comment section, just incase that was the confusion.

*wanted to add:

I am going based on speculation of what other people have said, so if they are not willing to make a few changes or do a work around, then this is pretty much the end.  They are not making enough to work on it as is through this page and their patreon page.

Honestly, this is a VERY spicey take, if he made the game free to play, its back up on public listings for itch, and still have his patreon link attached, i think he could possibly make more money from the patreon alone. He would then also be able to promote the patreon as a way to get sneak peaks of upcoming updates and allow players actually paying into it to test the new updates for him. Maybe even make a patreon exclusive cosmetic, who knows.
