Especially because the engine works for just about any idea. AAA developers don't take many risks, so you can expect more or less the same games from them. But with RPG maker, people can make the games with off-the-wall ideas that wouldn't normally be invested in (and therefore we'd never see) otherwise. They're original. They're fresh. And that's what makes them so exciting!
