Florian and I recognized the problem as well. Technically the difficulty rises up over time. The Spawn amount of the enemy rises over time using an exponential function, while the spwan intervall decreases over time also exponentially. But at the end we both were to tired to balance it correctly. I think you would only recognize it some where around wave 40 or so wich obviously is far to late.
