I discovered that one too, but it didn't bother me as much since the game didn't force me to interact with the mirror as opposed to the box. It doesn't help that I'm more scared of missing something important than of dying and reloading, so I'm particularly susceptible to this kind of trap cause I neurotically interact with everything possible.
