I loved this game. Great idea, interesting story, awesome aesthetics. The controls felt solid, the upgrades felt rewarding. I think I did 99% of the content, I just couldn't unlock the final door because my runs kept breaking due to physics issues maybe. A few thoughts if that's cool:
- Wasn't too clear I needed to click on the wall things, maybe a tool tip or light tutorial would have been useful.
- A sign tool for marking my world could be helpful "nothing here" "story area this way" etc.
- Another set of controls for rotating stuff on the other axis would have helped. Maybe the mouse scroll wheel for distance from player as well.
- The economy gets too strong near the middle-to-end. I think the time it takes to build new runs takes too long that by the time I'm done, I don't even need the money for that run. By the middle of my play-through I had more money than I could keep up with.
- Conveyor belts feel a bit broken. I think the pushing walls need to be taller. Also, having to put walls around them was a bit tedious . They were the most common spot for things to break.
- Conveyor belts also seem to affect performance? I noticed my computer's fans kicked on once I started adding those.
- The physics feels a bit too random. Maybe less randomization on egg spawn. My runs that were working just fine would randomly get congested.
- The physics seem to break when you're far away. I had a hard time exploring and slowly building out new runs because when I'd go back to the main area, all my runs would be clogged. I wish I could have just paused the game while I build.
- I think there should be like a $1000 egg bomb tool that destroys all eggs. Or eggs should expire. Near the end, I just always had piles and piles of eggs to deal with.
- I think a funnel or some sort of tool for connecting runs better could have been useful.
- Lastly, of course a windowed mode and letting the game run when not in focus.
I'm sure you're aware of all this and I know this is a prototype :) but maybe it's helpful. Looking forward to seeing this get expanded on! Overall I really loved it. I would have paid like $5 at least for this early access experience alone. It's great!
