So the Steam version only supports 64-bit operating systems. That may be it. You can hit Win+I then go to System > About. Then there should be something like a “system type.” If this is the problem, you may just need to try to refund, I don’t plan to add a 32-bit game version to Steam. If you aren’t able to get a refund, let me know, I’ll try to see if I can help you from my end.

If it’s not that your system is 32-bit, please let me know that, too. I’ll continue to investigate in that case.

Thank You for the reply! However, I would not refund even if so, You deserve the small funds I can afford to continue Your development! I have a desk PC that is more powerful and while I did not try it yet, I believe I can easily run the Steam 64 bit version there if I wanted to. That said, you are indeed correct! Even though my system is 64bit, its too weak to run the game as it tops out in memory or proccessing power upon loading. So, the issue indeed is my craptop hardware. But, as I mentioned, there is a workaround, and after a lot of trial, I figured out how to trigger it. I will describe it here in case someone runs into the same problem I did. There is a way to force the game into a 32 bit state as is right now with a bit of finesse. It requires the use of the /official 64 bit/ Steam version, and the "free 32bit" version. Here is how I did it:

Step 1: install the 64 bit Steam version of the game.Step 2: copy paste the free 32 bit version ZIP file into the steam game directory (usually it goes like: disk/steam/steamapps/common/Succubus stories) Do NOT unzip it yet! First, launch the game in its 64 bit version via Steam. If you have this issue, it will go to white screen for a bit, then "crash" but will actually still run in the background as a "process"Step 3: While the game is running in the background as a process, try to unzip the 32 bit free version. This will fail mid-extraction, but that is fine, do not try to force the extraction, accept that it failed.
Step 4: Run the Succubus stories.exe from the Steam folder directly. If it goes well, it should load as a version 1.1.3 Steam version - you can check it by opening the menu window and checking the text in top left corner.Step 5: Enjoy the game! I would reccomend turning off steam auto-updates so the game wont "re-patch" itself and I would open if from the folder directly, or set up a shortcut to run it from, but not from Steam library directly. Even if it corrects itself, repeating the proccess should enable it again.

I hope whomever has the same issue I do find this useful. Hope I did not overstep something with figuring out this "method" to force the 32 bit version of the game. It still requires a valid Steam version to work. Thanks for a great game! If i am overstepping, please remove my comment and accept my apology!

No, that’s fine. I only didn’t make a 32-bit version because they’re technically no longer supported by MS. Steam itself is ending 32-bit support in a couple months anyway. If you managed to hack it so it worked somehow, that’s fine by me!
