You keep surprising me with how wonderfully terrifying your stories are. From the last time you get to see your best friend, to the safety of Hedghog's kids. I would not let anyone into the hotel if they even posed the slightest threat to those kids.
You showed a great way how the media is manipulated without us, the player, nessicarliy falling for it, just that there does exist a large portion of people far away from the area of effect that think of people as monsters; successfully redirecting the focus away from the people who caused harm.
History has shown that if you want the people to not do crime you can give them "bread and circus" (distraction by entertainment), or fund projects to keep their community safe and connected. That is to say, yes, the government in this situation could have done more, could have done better, but focused more on the threat of war and covering up their mistakes.
You showed how the sickness does change you mentally, and that is scary, but it does not change you too far from who your true self was; a friend, a protector, a father, a mother, a child. The worst direct effect is the painful and usually nonconsensual method the transformation travels.
If I were to die, I would give the responsibility to protect the inhabitants of the hotel to the one furry who did not betray me. I would have liked to have sent the canned food family to my best friend, who is already infected, and can house the bear's kids.
