I will try to be diplomatic since it seems that more than 98% of the gaming community is unaware of what is going on.  This is no surprise due to the fact that most people do not want to read a bunch of legal documents full of mostly BS.  Patreon does not want to censor anything.  The executives want to stay out of jail and keep Patreon from being shut down.  Both are possible if they do not follow the existing laws where they are located.  Patreon could get away with a lot more before Apple started going after everyone.  Not because Apple cared about censorship but because they were not making any money off of games.  If you have not followed this for years, you would not realize that most of this information has now been legally covered up by Apple.  Apple was there, messing with things way before collective shout.  None of the censorship comes from directly from Patreon. They have been forced into it.

All that and credit card companies enforcing their arbitrary rules onto platforms.
I am fully aware that it is not patreon being prudish. Doesn't mean I need to support them or creators that exclusive on that platform in terms of monthly support options. That is just free market stuff.

I have a patreon account. But I don't spend money on it as a conscious choice.

There will always be players who exploit developers by never paying for any games.  Is that better than credit card companies or Patreon?  I know this may be a difficult concept for people who are not deeply involved in game development but making games is VERY expensive.  I choose to support many developers so players who cannot afford it, still get games.  That is also my choice.  If you get a game for free because of that, I am fine with it, as long as the game does not die.
