I have a weird problem, when i start any version of the game, be it from the download from here/the blog, or steam the game does start and from the sounds i think that the menu exists but there is no visual, just a black screen, is there something i can do or not. I've tried re-downloading the game but that didn't seem to work

Does anything odd get reported in the console? Look for instances of the game reporting being unable to load graphics.

the game detected my monitor but i got an error that it is "unable to get info in slot -1" but from what i can tell, if it's a monitor problem the game should've crashed, not be a blank screen. Also, and i don't know if it's a bug but the game didn't receive any "OpenGL version" so maybe it's that. If that helps i can copy the console report, maybe i missed something important.

Try using the different executables, the Allegro drivers sometimes get monitor information differently from the SDL drivers. If the game window is appearing at all it's likely a harmless error.

If using the other executables doesn't work, I'm not sure what the problem could be.
