That's great news, because for me, the "action-based" combat increases my dis-stress-levels quite significantly more than the turn-based one, where I can enjoy the gayme much more/better.
Despite your "losing scenes" being worth seeing and enjoying, after the x-th time, you know the "joy" is gone and replaced by utter frustration!
And for those who aren't as quick in their perception and sensual processing anymore, I think it's really great to know, you implement the "old" round-based system again, too. Because this way, those who seek the "thrill", can add it, but those who'd rather not, aren't bothered by it and still can enjoy the most important part of the gayme: the story and all the naughty scenes then, too.
Gatekeeping them with certain reaction times necessary would be really inaccessible and diminishing the enjoyment for those less "quick" in their hand-eye coordination for whatever reason (disability, age, [chronic] illness .... cognitive decline can have so many reasons).
I'm glad you're keeping that part of your audience engaged, too, since you plan to have both kinds of gameplay choices present in the final gayme.
Btw, will you continue the 1st part of Grove further, too is is that considered "finished" (since version-wise it stopped at 0.30x if I remember correctly?) and discontinued development-wise (since you showed-off your code-cleanup in comparison to this new one, I was wondering about that)? - I mean, if someone had the "muse" to help you clean-up / transition the code to the new format/convention, would that be an option for you or not?
