Very cool! :D I liked the art and the animations a lot. I would just sugest making the respawn next to where you died instead of the begining of the level maybe, but quite fun!

I think the idea was something like Hotline Miami, to start quick from the beginning and learn from your mistakes, I agree in a typical sidescroller that would be better, but I believe the main goal is to be as quick as you can to reach the end, that is why, death comes with some sort of punishment.
