⚠️ For several months now, many bots have been sending messages multiple times a day containing links to so-called updated versions or new game sites. These links are, of course, malicious—do not click on them. Itch.io’s moderation is somewhat overwhelmed at the moment, and I can’t be online 24/7 to remove these messages, so I’d rather give you a heads-up.

They have started to use Patreon links that are malware. Only follow such links from the actual developer and no one else. Don't know why people need to be told this commonsense, but still.

Unfortunately, some people fall for this kind of scheme far too easily, even though it’s such a simple trick. Most of the time because they don’t spend much time online, but sometimes for other reasons, like a poor understanding of English. So, adding more warnings doesn’t hurt :).

And it always useful to report such posts and block the user - the first can help to motivate the itch team to wipe the scam fast, the latter makes it impossible to fall in the trap the bots post all over the place.
