Question about AI usage in game

Hi,

We saw in the Jam rules that using AI to create the game is not allowed.

"Games must not contain AI-generated media (images, video, text, etc.)!"

Could you please clarify if this also applies to including generative AI inside the game itself — for example, letting the player chat with an NPC powered by a language model to modify their experience in real time?

We’d like to explore these possibilities to offer more customization and dynamic interactions for the player.

Thanks in advance!

This is likely a no, if you strip away the game, you're essentially left with chatgpt. Personally, I really do not care for AI-powered NPCs, I do not wish to pointlessly speak to a program that the developers themselves couldn't be bothered to write meaningful dialogue for.

That would fall under generated text, so that will be a no.
