The only way to lower his emotion bars is to survive triggering him with a survival skill (intimidate counters rage, pacify counters lust, and convince counters lure) this will only lower his bar by 1 step though so it's best to spread out his emotions evenly. It's possible to finish the conversation without triggering him at all. Good luck!
