You could try releasing it on Steam as EA while keeping itch.io or Patreon as the first to receive the updates months ahead of the Steam version. I feel like that could solve the problem for people who want to purchase it on Steam and still have a constant revenue. Just a thought.

At this point i'm worried steam may reject the game, so I can't exactly rely on that atm.
