I'm glad you enjoyed my game and the "trick" mechanic. :)

  • I knew the first person level (1:5) would be harder. It was an attempt to ramp up the difficulty of the "trick" mechanic. I made sure you could easily run to the end of the level to skip it if it was too difficult. I made sure that you couldn't fall off the level or land on anything dangerous to prevent frustration, and I put some mushrooms at the front of the level that only showed up in that level that work as a jump indicator to allow you to jump on the first dumpster, which will then propel you through the level as long as you steer. I also removed his head and jaw and had him hold them in his other hand in first person view so that the player had a clearer view when looking down. I'm thinking that when I expand it out, that the first person perspective should not be the whole level. I'm open for  other recommendations on how to make the experience of that "trick" less frustrating, but I made sure it doesn't block level progress.
  • One other person mentioned that it was distracting, but I didn't get details on what about it was distracting. Since it's a very tunable shader with literally like 20 settings, knowing what about it was distracting would help me tone it down. Was it the rolling lines? something else?
  • I knew the mouse wasn't working correctly for the UI, which is why I mentioned it in the Known Issues section, and offered alternatives that do work. What I learned in this jam is that not everyone reads a game description before playing it, and I should've put a disclaimer right on screen in-game. Although I do have plans to try and fix the mouse interaction post-game.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, and I already reviewed your game and left comments yesterday. :)

Thanks for the detailed explanation! That all makes a lot of sense — I really appreciate the thought you put into the design. The first-person part was clever once I got it, and yeah, maybe a small in-game hint would help new players. I think the rolling lines were what caught my eye with the shader. Thanks again for the insight and for checking out my game too!
