Just wondering, would this high quality speech and sound also be possible with the Ultimate Audio layer of the Ultimate devices? So the Ultimate 64, Ultimate II+ cartridge and the upcoming Commodore Ultimate?

Hey xahmol. This seems to be a complete other story.
I'm using a mp3-player on the userport module for playback.
You need this piece of hardware or emulating via VICE.
This is very easy to implement in the code.

yes, understand that. Just was wondering if not using MP3 but samples via the Ultimate Audio Layer would be feasible instead.

If yes, it would greatly enhance the number of machines this can run on.

yes, got your idea. But I cannot find any information about using this in BASIC. The mp3 module makes it very easy to implement and I personally like additional modules to extend original hardware. I always try to support all machines. The module can be self-build, there are infos on the net about it. I don't want a U64 only solution. But thanks for your input :-)
